Praiano · Costiera Amalfitana
A small pensione on the Praiano cliffs, run by the third generation of the Vitale family. Breakfast on the terrace, lemons from our own garden, and rooms that still smell of sun and plaster.
The house
Salvatore Vitale built the first four rooms above his own kitchen in 1962. The walls are still a meter thick, the floors are still the original majolica, and dinner still comes out of the same kitchen.
We are not a hotel that pretends to be a home. We are a home that happens to rent twelve rooms.
Three generations
A fisherman's house with spare beds and Carmela's kitchen. She cooked dinner for every guest, and word traveled down the coast faster than the bus.
Eight more rooms, the breakfast terrace, and one long summer of dust. Lucia still bakes the crostata every night before service.
Nine years in Milan hotels, then back to the coast where the water is better. He answers the WhatsApp himself, usually within the hour.
"My grandmother knew every guest's name and their coffee order. That is still the standard here."Marco Vitale, third generation
The rooms
Every rate includes breakfast on the terrace. Every window opens to salt air. No two rooms match, because the house grew the way families do.

Mornings
Lucia bakes the apricot crostata the night before. Sfogliatelle arrive warm at eight from the bakery in town. Eggs come up from the Agerola farms, the juice comes from our own lemons.
It runs until eleven, because holidays should not have alarm clocks.
Praiano
Praiano is the town the coast keeps for itself. The Path of the Gods starts twenty minutes up the hill, the bus to Positano takes fifteen, and dinner at the cove is a walk down our steps. The sunset is the only show, and it never repeats.
Lucia cooks for the whole house. Scialatielli with mussels, whatever the boats brought in, wine from Tramonti up the hill. One long table, eight o'clock, 38 euro a head. Guests have met at this table and come back married.
